16 Natural Remedies for Common Issues

Simple, natural fixes for everyday ailments — using ingredients you likely already have at home.

This quick sheet is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice. Always consult your doctor or qualified healthcare practitioner before making any changes to your health routine, diet, supplements, or treatment plan.

These gentle, time-tested remedies address the root of common discomforts without relying on harsh chemicals. Print this sheet and keep it handy.

Always use high-quality, pure ingredients. Choose raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with "the mother"), real mineral salt, and therapeutic-grade essential oils when possible.

    1. 1
      Stinky Feet

Foot odor comes from dead skin cells and bacteria that thrive in dark, damp areas (like your shoes). Soak feet in Epsom salt and baking soda to create an alkaline, bacteria-hating environment. Alternatively, use ACV (kills the bacteria), strong-brewed black tea (tannins shrink the spores), and Epsom salt (cleanses and dries the pores).

    2. 2
      Bad Breath

Bad breath is more often a gut issue than a strictly oral one, so mints and gum don't always do the trick — and the sugar can make it worse. Chew on celery or carrots before a meal, and drink a glass of water with ACV to get digestive juices flowing. Finish a meal chewing parsley (a natural deodorizer from the chlorophyll) or fennel (supports digestion and hinders gas and bloating).

    3. 3
      Blisters

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a powerful antiseptic that can help dry out blisters. Moisten a cotton ball with ACV and dab on the blisters three times a day until it no longer hurts.

    4. 4
      Hiccups

At the first hiccup, stop what you're doing and freeze. Slowly breathe in, in, in until you can't anymore and it almost "hurts." Then slowly breathe out, out, out, until you can't anymore. On both the inhale and the exhale, you may feel the release of little "bubbles" in your throat. A little dab of honey on the tongue can sometimes do the trick as well.

    5. 5
      Motion Sickness

When part of your body thinks it's moving and another part doesn't, try sucking on olives or a slice of lemon. Tannins, a compound in olives, dry out your mouth and soothe queasiness. The quick thinning of saliva from a lemon works too.

    6. 6
      Colds & Respiratory Infections

Warm salt water offers quick relief. Use high-quality mineral salt (not iodized or anti-caking salt). It eases pain and shortens the sickness by soothing inflamed throat tissues and loosening mucus, allowing allergens and bacteria to be flushed out. Gargling salt water three times a day can reduce respiratory infection by up to 40%.

    7. 7
      Nerve Pain & Headaches

Wintergreen, peppermint, or spearmint oil have anti-inflammatory properties that can help ease pain and soothe nerve pain and headaches. Rub onto temples.

    8. 8
      Gas & Bloating

Dandelion tea (leaves) can help with mild excess gas and bloating and reduce fluid retention. It also stimulates bile to help break down fatty meals and reduce bloating.

    9. 9
      Puffiness & Fluid Retention

Feeling puffy is often on a deeper detoxification level, but imbalanced electrolytes, dehydration, and too many processed salty foods can all contribute. Upping balanced, mineralized fluids and eating more whole foods can help.

    10. 10
      Sore Throat & Cough

Mix ½ teaspoon ginger powder, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water, and 1 teaspoon of raw honey for a quick syrup. (Fire Cider or Thieves mouthwash are also wonderful.)

    11. 11
      Brain Freeze ("Ice Cream Headache")

This occurs when something cold touches the roof of your mouth. Push your tongue to the roof of your mouth as soon as you feel the "freeze state" coming on — the heat from your tongue calms the nerves and reduces the pain faster.

    12. 12
      Minor Burns

Soothe first with aloe vera gel (cooling), then apply high-quality honey (Manuka) to keep from blistering and accelerate healing.

    13. 13
      Upset Stomach & Overnight Digestion

Sip peppermint, chamomile, or ginger tea — or a combo of all three — for upset stomachs, or before bed for a calming effect and to aid overnight digestion.

    14. 14
      Chapped Lips

Coconut oil (softens skin, provides a protective barrier) and honey (a moisture magnet) can provide relief for chapped lips.

    15. 15
      Nasal Congestion

Short fix: garlic, honey, cayenne, and ACV. To keep it cleared, use a saline neti pot, steam over a pot, take a long steamy shower, and keep your head elevated at night.

    16. 16
      Bruises

Arnica gel or cream (topical only) can help reduce swelling, discoloration, and pain when applied gently to the area.
